Our History

Our History

Our History

In the Barkley family, we’ve always believed that blessings are meant to be shared—and that with hope and purpose, we can turn adversity into opportunity. That belief is at the heart of The Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation, named in honor of Saquon's late grandmother, Michael Ann.

The Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation (the "Foundation") is a private foundation recognized as exempt from federal income tax under Sec. 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "Code"). In addition, donors may be able to deduct contributions that they make to the Foundation under Section 170 of the Code.

Our Mission

Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation ("MASBH"), was founded in 2020. The mission of MASBH is to support underserved youth and families to achieve success in athletics and academics and to honor the determination and strength that shaped the Barkley family's own journey.

The Foundation's goals and impact include direct investment and support of:

  • Educational and athletic programs  that inspire creativity and opportunity for underserved youth and families;
  • Community Outreach and Engagement including holiday drives, school supply giveaways, and athletic equipment and other needs; and
  • Scholarships and grants that support student-athletes and their families as they pursue both academic and athletic excellence.

And the development of:

  • New housing solutions for homeless women, children, and families; and
  • Multi-sport recreation centers that foster athletics, academics, health, career development, financial literacy, and community engagement;
